The plots on this page show the evolution of the G-band luminosity of the Sun center in the central 128x128 pixel area of the CCD of XRT. The variation in time is due to the presence of a thin layer of an unknown contaminant over the CCD, which sends back into the CCD part of the light reflected on the surface of the CCD. Because of interference, this effect can either increase or decrease the G-band of the Sun in the G-band, and is seen as a sinusoidal pattern in the September 2007- January 2008 period. Periodic "resets" of the luminosity due to CCD bakeouts can be seen. |
