Bright Loops and Dark Loops

A small but interesting feature happened while observing the very active region AR12297 last month. The interesting feature is located near the center of the movie and starts at 23:29UT. It begins as a small, white, Y shaped brightening. A few frames later, this Y shape appears to spread out and a dark band can be seen forming between the brightening. What is this dark band? A cool filament blocking the X-ray emission or has the region been depleted of hot plasma?

Eventually, this dark band slowly gets engulfed by small bright loops. Near the end of the movie, we see another dark area that looks like a bridge separating two bright ribbons. The areas in an active region that don't emit x-rays are sometimes more intriguing than the areas that do.
