Coronal Loop Expansion (click image to see corresponding movie)

On October 3 XRT caught some activity at the limb due to the AR11109/11110 complex. At the same time as some activity in the foreground, a faint loop that looks to be connecting the two active regions is seen to expand. The faint loop is marked with an arrow in the image above, and can be readily seen in the linked movei. The activity in this region may be related to a GOES B-class flare that occurred at 4:05 UT on October 3. Keywords: Loop Expansion, Flare, Limb Filters: Al_mesh |
