The Life of an Active Region

XRT can really focus! This observation took place over the week from June 7 - 12, 2014. XRT followed AR12080 for the entire time to track how an active region evolves (and even caught a few flares in the process!). You can see in the AIA image on the right, the active region begins just south and left of the sun's center, and by the end of the week approaches the right limb. Throughout the week, you can see the active region changing, becoming more spread out. Keywords: AR Tracking, Focus Mode Filters: Ti_poly |
