Shift Report

X-Ray Optical Axis Alignment

The Pitch / Yaw correction to the initial optical axis alignment was completed. Images were made at numerous pitch and yaw positions, and the RSS sigma widths for the 2-d gaussian fits to the data were colculated from the image data. Variation in the value calculated for the RSS sigma widths as a function of pitch and yaw was used to indicate the direction and amplitude of the correction to the telescope alignemnt with respect to the facility optical axis. The correction values determined from this procedure are (-2.90, 5.74) in pitch and yaw respectively. A contour plot of the variation of the RSS widths is provided below.

An image was collected after application of the corrections to pitch and yaw to verify the shape and position of the spot. This image is provided below along with an image that is actually a compilation of the images from all of the pitch and yaw positions.
