Emerging Flux Near an Active Region (click image to see corresponding movie)

Around 18:00 UT on 2010 June 19, AR 11082 is in a single-bipolar configuration. Then flux emergence begins on the west side of the active region. The movie shows interactions between the newly emerging flux and the pre-existing flux. The region becomes a multi-bipolar configuration on June 20. XRT is observing this active region with long/short (exposure time) pair in the Ti-poly filter, but in the movie above, only the short-exposure images are shown.
