The Cornucopia Flare

In late September of this year, Hinode XRT was tracking an active region (AR 12420) when a C8.8 flare erupted generating the cusp-shaped arcade you see here. The cusp shape is common for solar flares and we have numerous XPOWs showcasing these beautiful events. To learn more click on the keyword below.
