XRT & AIA (click on image for full size)

On February 11, 2010, the Solar Dynamics Observaroty was launched. This image shows an XRT image taken on April 10, 2010, along with images from the four telescopes on SDO's Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) at about the same time. AIA is a narrowband EUV imager, and its temperature responses are complementary to those of XRT, as can be seen in the plots of the temperature responses of the two instruments located in the center of the image.
