X1.1 Flare with CME on November 10th, 2013

Today's movie shows an X1.1-class flare that occurred on November 10th in Active Region 11890. The upper-left portion shows XRT's "flare patrol" images, which are used to automatically detect flares. These are scaled-down, low-quality images that aren't typically useful outside of their main purpose. They're included here because of the large Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) that's visible just after the flare begins. It's also a nice illustration of how XRT's flare response works. The flare program kicks in after a sufficient brightness change at 05:11 UT. Click the movie for a much longer one that includes observations before and after the event.
