Antarctic Eclipse 2021

On December 4th, 2021 there was a total solar eclipse. Unfortunately for most people, this eclipse was mainly visible on the continent of Antactica. Although some people were lucky enough to make the trek to the bottom of the world in order to observe, most of us were unable to view the eclipse. XRT is fortunate enough to be constantly looking at the Sun, so it was able to capture the the moon as it moved in front of the Sun. The above image and movie shows what XRT saw during this event. Because of the position of the spacecraft orbiting Earth, XRT only observed a partial blockage of the Sun.
